well, its been some time since I have posted and thought I might try to get back into the swing of things
pictured is a project car I have had for a few years and with the help of some friends was finally able to get it on the road
it is a 1964 Ford Falcon wagon
I have been steadily employed at the Bear Hotel in Grants Pass Oregon for the last few years building bears for Bearfest each summer
this is Root Bearly a float and my friend Ray who helped do the fiber-glassing on this project and who also helped get my car back on the road (Ray is the short one)
this bear was done for the 2014 Bearfest

little of this and a little of that
August and September were busy. took my sculptures and signs to 3 events, the Ratrod-O-Rama, art walk at the Bear Hotel, and the Oktoberfest in Wolf Creek Or.

now working at the Bear Hotel, painting a Tromp l'oeil mural at the end of a short hall.
we had so much fun at the crawdad festival I made a sign in the hopes of selling it, but it will look good in my next booth set up.

I also made another tree sculpture with a crowing rooster to show what can be done with the materials I use.
I've also been making little bird sculptures and may take a spot in a crafters mall in Grants Pass to sell them.

The last two months have been a bit chaotic.
I have been working at the baseball field again doing sponsor signs, am back to working with FedEx again on a part time basis and have started a new sculpture.
we took the 65 Falcon to the Back to the Fifties car cruise with Sammy our Pomeranian, he got lots of ooh's and aww's, the car not so much :)

motel 6
Last Friday I did a wall sign at Motel 6. things started off a little rough, it was a little windy and I couldnt get the paper pattern pieces to line up but, eventually I got things situated and started in on the paint.
I started with the background blue then the red and finally the white. it was hot (91 degrees) and miserable, but I got it done about 1:30, and will be getting a check in the mail soon, so all is good.
Joyce the manager called me and told how great the sign looked, but that I had put it in the wrong spot, (uurrghg!!), but she said not to worry it can stay there and they may pay me later to paint the tag line :we'll leave the lights on for you" so that's a plus :)

the handrail is done
this is a shot of the base coat that I applied last week and let set for a couple of days.
I went back on Sat the 12th and finished up the post and rails with two glazes, one a purplish brown color and the second a blue-green black, applied liberally and blotted off with rags to get the effect I was looking for. I offered to come back and gray it a bit to match the surrounding trees but my parents said they were happy with the look.
not sure yet if we are going to paint the rocks on the risers of the steps they look pretty good natural, and blend in quite well with the existing rocks.

A little support
Yesterday May 4th I started a handrail at my parents house, they are getting for a wedding (mine) and a couple of family reunions this summer.
They asked me if I would like to make the rail and posts into branches and such, plus put some support under the leading edge of the steps, they are just setting on the dirt and tend to tip when you step on the leading edge, so I said sure and got to work.
These two photos are at the end of the day Fri May 4th
The last three photos are at the end of today. I will be going back to do a little more detailing with some 2 part epoxy clay, and then it will be on to paint should be done before the end of the week, I've still got to get the cake topper done and was thinking about a sign for the end of my parents driveway.
